Decimal-to-hexadecimal uses repeated division by 16; remainders of 10-15 are written with the letters A-F, and the remainders are read bottom-up.

Why this works. Division by 16 extracts the number's lowest hex digit as the remainder; repeat until the quotient is 0 and collect the digits upward.

Working for (122)10:

DivisionQuotientRemainder
122 / 16710 -> A
7 / 1607

Reading bottom-up: 7A.

Verification (expand back):

(7A)16 = 7x16 + 10x1 = 112 + 10 = 122  ✓
