ConceptFirst is live — concept-first exam prep for CBSE, state boards and competitive exams

Why we built ConceptFirst around understanding the concept first, and what's live on the platform today.

If you've been using ConceptFirst, you already know the basic idea: understand the concept first, then the solution makes sense — not the other way around. Today we want to talk about why the platform exists at all, and what "done" actually looks like for us.

Most exam-prep material in India optimizes for one thing: getting you to the final answer as fast as possible. Worked solutions skip the reasoning. Formula sheets tell you what to plug in, not why. You memorize a pattern for a question type, and the moment the exam asks something one step different, the pattern breaks and you're stuck.

Concept First, Not Answer First

Every question on ConceptFirst opens with the concept it's actually testing, and why the method works — before the step-by-step solution. Where it helps, we show more than one way to solve the same problem, plus the mistakes students most commonly make on that exact question. The previous-year papers and mock tests use the same approach: an answer key tells you if you were right, but it doesn't tell you why you were wrong. We try to close that gap.

What's Live Right Now

  • CBSE and state boards — chapter-wise concept explanations and solved questions, board by board, grade by grade.
  • Previous-year papers — real board and competitive-exam papers, solved the same concept-first way, not just an answer key.
  • Competitive exams — KCET, JEE, NEET, CUET, and other state CETs, with more coverage being added continuously.
  • Mock tests — real-exam simulation (timing, negative marking, the real question pattern) for competitive exams.
  • An AI Assistant, bookmarks, and notes — for when you want a contextual nudge on the exact question you're stuck on, or to keep track of what you've already reviewed.
Tip

ConceptFirst is a self-study platform — structured written material and practice you work through at your own pace. There are no video lectures or live classes here, and we'd rather tell you that upfront than have you discover it after signing up.

What We're Not

We're not trying to be everything. No tutoring, no doubt-solving calls, no cohort classes. If that's what you're looking for, we're honestly not the right fit yet — and we'd rather say so than blur the line.

This is early. We're a small team building this board by board, subject by subject, and we'll keep saying so plainly as we grow — new boards, new exams, new features, and the occasional thing we got wrong and fixed. That's what this space is for.

If you want to see the approach for yourself, the first questions in every chapter are free to try, no sign-up required.
