Terms of Use

1. Agreement and Acceptance

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of ConceptFirst (the "platform") and all subscriptions and content offered on it, operated by Pennam Ventures ("we", "us", "our").

By creating an account, purchasing a subscription, or using any part of the platform, you agree to these Terms in full. At checkout we additionally ask you to expressly confirm your agreement (and your understanding of what the product is — see Section 4) before any payment is taken. If you do not agree, do not use the platform. Your continued use after any update to these Terms constitutes acceptance of the updated version (see Section 18).

These Terms incorporate by reference our Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, Acceptable Use Policy, Cookie Policy, and Copyright Policy. Together, these documents are the entire agreement between you and us with respect to the platform, and supersede any prior agreements or representations.

2. Eligibility and Minors

Students and minors: ConceptFirst is intended for exam preparation, and many users are school/college students under the age of 18. If you are under 18, you may use the platform only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf and is responsible for any purchases. Purchases themselves must be made by an adult (the parent/guardian or an adult student).

Parental consent (India DPDP Act, 2023): For users below 18, the account should be created and any purchase made by a parent or lawful guardian, who thereby consents to these Terms and to the processing of the student's personal data for the purpose of providing the service. We collect only the minimal data needed to run the platform, and we do not undertake behavioural tracking, monitoring, or targeted advertising directed at children. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us without appropriate consent, contact us at hello@conceptfirst.ai and we will delete it.

Account accuracy: Provide accurate, current, complete information, and keep it updated. One account per person. Accounts registered with false information may be suspended.

Geography: The platform serves students preparing for Indian boards and exams. Prices are in INR; certain payment methods may be restricted by region.

3. Account Registration, Security, and Single-Device Access

Your responsibility: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity under your account. Sign-in is via email or Google (handled by Clerk, our authentication provider); protect the underlying email account too.

No sharing: Access is single-user. Sharing credentials, or allowing multiple people to use one subscription, is a material breach of these Terms and may result in suspension or termination without refund.

Single active device: To protect paying students against account sharing, a subscription may be actively used on one device/session at a time. Signing in on a new device lets you claim the session there; the previous device is signed out of active use. This is enforced automatically and is not a fault or outage. Your account, progress, bookmarks and notes are identical on whichever device you claim.

Unauthorised access: If you suspect unauthorised access, contact us immediately at hello@conceptfirst.ai or via the contact page. We are not liable for losses resulting from unauthorised access where you have failed to keep your credentials secure.

4. What the Product Is — Self-Study Material (Please Read)

ConceptFirst is a self-study platform. Your subscription gives you access to structured written learning content: concept explanations, worked step-by-step solutions, multiple methods and shortcuts, common mistakes, previous-year questions and papers, revision assets, mock/practice tests, and a contextual AI Assistant. You read, practise, and revise at your own pace.

What it is NOT: the platform does not include video lectures, recorded or live classes, webinars, one-to-one or group tutoring, human doubt-clearing sessions, or any coaching services. If you are looking for a video-lecture or live-coaching product, ConceptFirst is not that product. We state this clearly on the website, on the pricing page, and at checkout before you pay — and by accepting these Terms at checkout you confirm you understand it — so that no one purchases under a mistaken expectation.

Licence: You receive a single-user, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to access the subscribed content for personal, non-commercial learning for the duration of your subscription. This licence is the only right in the platform's content granted to you; it ends when your subscription ends.

Durations: Subscriptions are offered for 3, 6, 9, 12, 18, and 24 months, plus a custom month-selection option. Access ends when the paid period ends, unless renewed.

14-day free trial: When you create an account you get a 14-day free trial with full access to the platform — every subject, board, exam and feature that is live — at no cost and without entering any card or payment method. The trial does not convert to a paid plan automatically and no charge is ever made when it ends: once the 14 days are over, your account simply reverts to the free tier (the free preview described below) unless you choose to subscribe. The trial is offered once per person/account; creating multiple accounts to obtain repeated trials is a breach of these Terms (see Section 2) and may lead to restriction. Your account, notes, bookmarks, learning progress and test history are kept after the trial ends — you can always sign in and pick up where you left off.

Free preview: The first questions of every chapter are fully free; the remainder shows a partial preview before the paywall. Free content may change over time and does not create any entitlement.

Restrictions: You may not redistribute, resell, sublicense, record, screenshot at scale, scrape, or systematically extract platform content, nor use it to build or train a competing product or dataset.

5. eGift, Vouchers, and Complimentary Access

eGift: You may gift a subscription to another user. You pay; the recipient receives a gift code and redeems it for full access without paying. The recipient must accept these Terms to redeem, and the gift carries the same self-study scope described in Section 4. Gift codes are single-use and may not be resold.

Vouchers / promo codes: Discount codes are applied at checkout subject to their stated validity window, usage caps, and expiry. A voucher has no cash value, cannot be applied retroactively, and may be withdrawn in cases of abuse.

Complimentary invites: Free access granted at our discretion (e.g. reviewers, partners, scholarships) may be time-boxed and revoked; comp access does not create a paid entitlement and is not refundable or transferable.

6. Pricing, Taxes, and Payment

Currency and billing: Prices are shown in INR. Subscriptions are billed once, upfront, for the full term you choose. The amount confirmed at checkout is binding.

Taxes: Applicable GST is calculated and shown at checkout before you confirm payment.

Price changes and offers: The price you pay is the price shown at the time of purchase; we never retroactively change a completed transaction. We may change prices for future purchases, and may run time-limited launch/promotional discounts — offer windows shown in the UI are real, not fabricated scarcity.

Payment processor: Payments are processed by Razorpay; by purchasing you accept Razorpay's terms. We do not store raw card or bank data — only a transaction reference and status reach our systems.

Failed transactions: If a payment fails, no order is created and no money is owed; retry with a valid method. We are not liable for failures caused by your bank, card issuer, UPI app, or the payment processor.

Order confirmation and invoices: A confirmation email with a tax invoice (PDF) is sent on every successful purchase, and your order history + invoices are always available in Dashboard → Billing. If a confirmation doesn't arrive within an hour, contact hello@conceptfirst.ai with your payment reference.

Auto-renewal (optional, where offered): By default nothing renews automatically — a plan simply ends when its term ends, and we remind you before expiry. If the auto-renew option is available and you expressly opt in at checkout (never pre-ticked), your chosen term renews via a UPI/card mandate;Razorpay notifies you before each charge as required by RBI e-mandate rules, and you can cancel auto-renew at any time from your dashboard. Cancelling stops future charges; access always continues to the end of the period already paid. If a renewal charge fails, we notify you and access lapses at the end of the paid period rather than being cut off immediately.

Chargebacks: Please use our refund process rather than a chargeback — it is faster and self-service. Accounts initiating chargebacks may be suspended pending investigation; fraudulent chargebacks are a breach of these Terms.

Access after your plan ends: For 14 days after your subscription lapses, you can still sign in and view your dashboard — your past progress, bookmarks, notes, and test results stay visible and are never deleted — but you cannot access new gated content until you renew. After 14 days, dashboard access is paused (your saved data is retained, not deleted) until you renew.

7. Content Accuracy and Educational Use

Correctness is the product we sell, and we engineer for it: extracted facts (curriculum, questions, previous-year papers, exam patterns) are kept separate from generated explanations, every published item passes automated quality gates and human review, and where we cannot faithfully reconstruct a question's text we hold it back rather than guess.

Even so, content may contain errors or become out of date — boards revise syllabi and patterns. Always cross-check critical exam facts (patterns, dates, weightage, syllabus deletions) with the official board/exam authority. Content is for learning and does not replace your official syllabus, textbook, or teacher — and, per Section 4, the platform is a self-study aid, not a substitute for classroom teaching.

Coverage is partial and growing. We publish content board-by-board and subject-by-subject. At any given time some boards, subjects, or exams are fully live, some are partially live (for example, only some units or subjects of a competitive exam), and some are not yet available. A subscription covers what is published now and whatever is added during your term, but we do not promise that any particular subject, unit, paper, or exam will be available by any date. What is live is shown on the platform itself — the Boards and Exams pages reflect current coverage and update automatically as we publish more, so please rely on those pages (not this document) for what is available today.

Competitive exams (JEE, NEET, CUET and state CETs). For the central exams (JEE Main, JEE Advanced, NEET, CUET) our practice questions are original, concept-aligned items we write ourselvesto help you prepare; they are not the official question papers and are not represented as actual past papers. For exams where we do publish previous-year questions (PYQs), the question is a factual record of what was asked — facts are not copyrightable — compiled from publicly available/official material; where an original was unclear or corrupted we repaired and cross-checked it against independent sources, and where it could not be verified we held it back rather than guess. Every solution, explanation and method is written by us.

Answer keys. Where an official answer key exists, published answers are checked against it and labelled accordingly; where no single official key exists we say so and rely on cross-source consensus, and some questions are honestly left unanswered rather than guessed. “Verified” means checked to our stated standard — it is not a guarantee of correctness.

Weightage and marks. For CBSE, the chapter/unit weightage and marks shown are our best approximation, derived from official CBSE curriculum documents and previous-year analysis; they can vary from year to year and should be treated as guidance. For state boards, weightage is taken from the board's official weightage where it is published. Either way, confirm critical figures against the current official blueprint before relying on them.

Figures and diagrams are our own artwork. Every figure on the platform is original artwork we draw ourselves — never a scan, trace, or reproduction of any board's, publisher's, or third party's copyrighted figure — checked label-by-label against the relevant textbook chapter before publishing, so it is a correct way to understand the concept even though it may look different in style from the official printed figure. If an exam asks you to reproduce a diagram by hand, practise from your official textbook's own printed figure, not ours.

If you find an error, report it via the contact page — we correct verified errors promptly.

8. AI Assistant and AI-Assisted Content

How our content is made: Explanations, answers, solutions, and revision assets are researched, written and reviewed under our own editorial process, grounded in extracted curriculum facts. AI tools are used as a drafting aid within that process — never as the primary or unsupervised author. Every published item passes automated quality gates and a human review process, and flagged items are corrected. Even so, no review process is perfect: content may still contain errors or omissions, and is provided for educational purposes only.

The AI Assistant is different: its chat responses are generated in real time, scoped to the question or concept you are viewing, and by their nature cannot be human-reviewed before you see them. Treat them as explanatory help, not authoritative fact — the reviewed question page is the reference.

Not professional advice: Nothing produced by the platform or the AI Assistant is legal, medical, financial, career, or other professional advice.

Usage limits: The AI Assistant carries fair-usage limits (a small free daily allowance and a larger subscriber allowance) so it stays fast and affordable for everyone. Automated or excessive use, and attempts to extract system prompts or bypass limits, violate the Acceptable Use Policy.

9. Your Content — Notes, Bookmarks, and Testimonials

Notes and bookmarks: Personal notes and saved questions belong to you. We store them to provide the feature and do not publish them. Deleting your account deletes them.

Testimonials: If you submit a testimonial, you grant us a non-exclusive licence to display it (with the name/attribution you approve) on the platform. Testimonials are moderated and shown only with your consent — we never fabricate or edit them into saying something you didn't. You may ask for yours to be removed at any time. If the person giving the testimonial is under 18, we publish their name or other identifying attribution only with the verifiable consent of their parent or legal guardian (consistent with the minors provisions of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023); absent that, we either withhold the testimonial or display it without any identifying attribution.

Feedback: Suggestions and feedback you provide may be used to improve the platform without obligation or compensation to you.

Standards: Anything you submit must be lawful, yours to submit, and free of malicious content. We may remove submissions that violate these Terms.

10. Refunds

Our refund policy is set out in full in the Refund Policy, and whether a purchase is refundable depends on how you started:

  • If you took the 14-day free trial (every new account receives one): because you had a full 14-day evaluation of the entire platform before paying a rupee, subscription purchases are final and non-refundable once placed. The trial is your evaluation window — please use it to decide before you subscribe.
  • If you subscribed without ever taking the free trial (e.g. an older account created before the trial existed): your first subscription order is refundable within 7 days of purchase, provided you have engaged with fewer than 100 questions. Renewals and repeat purchases are not refundable.

Either way, the narrow, honest exceptions we always correct in full are: a genuine accidental or duplicate charge (tell us within 48 hours, before any additional access was used as a result of that order), and our own failure to actually deliver the access you paid for. Unredeemed eGift purchases can be refunded to the buyer within 14 days of purchase (nothing has been used yet); once redeemed, the same rules above apply. Complimentary/comp access has no monetary value and is not refundable. Where mandatory statutory consumer rights apply, those rights prevail.

11. Intellectual Property

Extracted facts and questions remain the property of their respective sources/authorities; facts themselves are not copyrightable, and we generate all explanatory content fresh rather than reproducing textbook prose or third-party compilations.

Syllabus and curriculum structure. The chapter/unit list, topic ordering, and marks weightage shown on the platform reflect the publicly published curriculum of the relevant board or exam authority (e.g. NCERT/CBSE, a state board, NTA). This is factual/functional information about what a mandated curriculum requires, not a reproduction of any board's or publisher's original written or illustrated expression — the same basis on which every publisher, coaching institute, and study platform in India lists the same syllabus.

All generated explanatory content, the platform's design, brand name, logo, question-page format, system prompts, and platform code are owned by or licensed to Pennam Ventures and protected by copyright, trademark, and other IP laws. The limited licence in Section 4 is the only right granted to you; any unauthorised use (including republishing our solutions, in whole or in part, on another site or in printed compilations) may result in account termination and legal action.

Our content is original and protected — copying is prohibited. The concept explanations, worked solutions, methods and shortcuts, common-mistake notes, revision assets, the question-page format and wording, and every figure and diagram on the platform are our own original work, created by us and owned by Pennam Ventures. They are protected by copyright and related rights under the Copyright Act, 1957 and applicable international law. Without our prior written permission, no person, website, app, coaching institute, publisher, creator or service may:

  • copy, reproduce, republish, mirror, redistribute, sell, sublicense or publicly display our content, in whole or in part;
  • screenshot, record, scrape, crawl, bulk-download or systematically extract it;
  • translate, adapt, rewrite, or create derivative works from it;
  • reuse it in printed notes, guides, question banks, coaching or tuition material, PDFs, videos, or social-media posts;
  • use it to build, train, fine-tune or evaluate any AI/ML model, dataset, or competing product.

Enforcement. We actively monitor for infringement and treat unauthorised copying of our content seriously. Where our content is copied or misused, we will pursue every remedy available in law — including takedowns, account termination, cease-and-desist, interim and permanent injunctions, damages and account of profits, and recovery of legal costs — and, where applicable, a criminal complaint under the Copyright Act, 1957. If you would like to license or reuse any of our content, ask first at hello@conceptfirst.ai. To report infringement in either direction, see our Copyright Policy.

Independence and third-party names / trademarks: ConceptFirst is an independent study platform. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, authorised by, sponsored by, or connected to CBSE, NCERT, NTA, KEA, or any state board, university, or examination authority (including the authorities behind KCET, COMEDK, AP/TG EAPCET, KEAM, WBJEE, GUJCET, MHT-CET, JEE, NEET and CUET). Names of boards, exams and institutions, and marks such as “CBSE”, “JEE”, “NEET”, “CUET” and the state-CET names, are the trademarks or property of their respective owners and are used on the platform only descriptively (nominative fair use) — to identify the syllabus or exam our study material helps you prepare for. Their use does not imply any association or endorsement. All official information (eligibility, dates, patterns, results) must be obtained from the relevant authority's own website; links we provide to those sites are for convenience only.

Copyright concerns — in either direction — are handled under our Copyright Policy.

12. Third-Party Services

The platform integrates third-party services: Clerk (authentication), Razorpay (payments), Resend (transactional email), cloud hosting/infrastructure and CDN providers, error tracking, AI observability, and the LLM providers that power content generation and the AI Assistant. Your use of these is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies (see the sub-processor table in our Privacy Policy). We are not responsible for the availability, performance, or content of third-party services, or of external sites we link to (e.g. official board websites in exam announcements).

Advertising and analytics. We use Google Analytics and Google Ads (and may add other advertising platforms, e.g. Meta) to measure the product and to run and measure our own ad campaigns promoting ConceptFirst. In addition, the free and trial tiers may display third-party advertisements — served by Google (Google Ad Manager / AdSense) and other advertising partners — which help keep that content free to use. Paid subscribers get an ad-free experience with no such advertisements. Ads shown to any user we know or reasonably believe to be a child are contextual only and are never personalised or behaviourally targeted (see Section 2 and our Privacy Policy). In the EU, UK, and Switzerland advertising and analytics cookies stay off by default until you opt in; elsewhere they are on by default and you can opt out any time. Full detail on what each one does and how to control it is in the Cookie Policy.

13. Platform Availability and Changes

No uptime guarantee: The platform is provided "as is" and "as available". We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service; planned maintenance is notified in advance where practicable.

Content and feature changes: Subjects, boards, papers and features grow continuously, and your subscription automatically covers new content as it is published. Occasionally a subject may be scheduled for removal — in that case existing subscribers are notified well in advance through the platform and email.

Discontinuation: In the unlikely event the platform is discontinued, we will give reasonable advance notice and honour the refund policy for unusable remaining subscription periods.

14. Suspension and Termination

By you: You may stop using the platform at any time and may request account deletion (see the Privacy Policy for how data deletion works). Deleting your account does not by itself create a refund entitlement beyond the Refund Policy.

By us: We may suspend or terminate an account, without refund, for material breach of these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy — including credential sharing, scraping, payment fraud, or abuse of the AI Assistant. Where practical and lawful we will warn you first and give you a chance to respond; egregious cases (fraud, attacks on the platform) may be terminated immediately. You may appeal a suspension via hello@conceptfirst.ai.

Sections that by their nature survive termination (IP, disclaimers, liability limits, dispute resolution) survive.

15. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the platform will be error-free or uninterrupted, that content or AI outputs will be accurate or complete, or that any exam result, rank, admission, or other outcome will follow from use of the platform. No exam-outcome claims are made anywhere on the platform — anyone promising you a rank is not us.

16. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law: we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, opportunity, or reputation, even if advised of the possibility; and our total liability for any claim arising from or relating to these Terms or the platform is limited to the amounts you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and mandatory consumer-law protections of your place of residence prevail over this section.

17. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Pennam Ventures, its owner, and personnel from claims, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your violation of any third party's rights, or your use of the platform in a way not authorised by these Terms. This does not apply to consumers to the extent such an obligation is not permitted by applicable consumer law.

18. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes are notified by email or prominent notice on the platform and take effect 14 days after notice for existing users (immediately for new users). If you do not accept a material change, you may close your account and — where the change substantially reduces what you paid for — request a refund of the unused period. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the current version.

19. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights that let you bring a claim in your own district (including under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019), disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka.

Please contact us first — most issues are resolved fastest through hello@conceptfirst.ai, and the refund flow in your dashboard handles the most common dispute without any correspondence at all.

Grievance Officer. As required by the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020, Pennam Ramesh is the Grievance Officer for ConceptFirst and handles consumer complaints about orders, service, and content. The same person is also our Grievance Officer for data-protection matters under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (see the Privacy Policy). Reach the Grievance Officer at hello@conceptfirst.ai or via the contact page. We acknowledge consumer complaints within 48 hours and aim to resolve them within one month of receipt.

20. Severability, Waiver, Assignment, Contact

If any provision of these Terms is invalid or unenforceable, the remainder continues in full force. Our failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of it. You may not assign your account or these Terms; we may assign them as part of a business transfer, with notice.

Questions about these Terms: hello@conceptfirst.ai or the contact page. The operating entity and registered office are shown at the bottom of this page.
