New: a real-exam mock test engine, starting with KCET

Real exam pattern, real timing and negative marking, and analysis that goes beyond a score — our new mock-test engine, explained.

We just shipped something we're genuinely excited about: a mock-test engine that mirrors a real competitive exam, not a generic quiz.

Why a "Generic" Mock Test Isn't Enough

Most online mock tests are just a pile of questions with a timer bolted on. That's not what a real exam feels like. A real competitive exam has a specific pattern — a fixed number of questions, a specific marking scheme (often with negative marking), a real duration, and a real weightage across topics. Practicing against anything else means the pressure you train under doesn't match the pressure you'll actually face.

What's Different Here

Starting with KCET, our mock tests mirror the real exam as closely as we can make them:

  • The real pattern — the same number of questions, marks per question, and negative marking as the actual exam.
  • Real papers, reconstructed — one full paper is an actual past year's real questions, in their real printed order, alongside additional pattern-matched practice papers assembled from a wider question pool. Every paper is labeled honestly as one or the other — we never present a practice paper as if it were a real one.
  • A real exam interface — a countdown timer, a question palette showing answered / not-answered / marked-for-review, and auto-submit if time runs out.
  • Analysis that goes beyond a score — time spent per question, and a trail of every time you changed your answer before submitting, so you can see not just what you got wrong but how you arrived at it.
  • Explanations you can actually use — every question in your results review opens into the same concept-first explanation used across the rest of the platform, not just "correct" or "wrong."
Tip

You can try the first questions of any published mock test for free, with no sign-up required, from the mock tests page — a real timer, real scoring, the same paper a subscriber would see.

What's Next

KCET is fully built out right now — every chapter, every subject, both real reconstructed papers and additional practice papers. We're extending the same approach to more state CETs and central exams over time, and we'll keep this space updated as each one goes live rather than announcing coverage before it's actually there.

If you're prepping for a competitive exam, give it a try and let us know what you think.
