Lorenz curve graphically measures inequality: the more it bows away from the line of equal distribution, the greater the inequality.

The Lorenz curve, devised by Max O. Lorenz, is a graphic method of studying dispersion/inequality in the distribution of income, wealth, profit, etc. On the graph, the cumulative percentage of the items (e.g. persons) is taken on the X-axis and the cumulative percentage of the variable (e.g. income) on the Y-axis. The straight diagonal line joining the origin to the opposite corner represents the line of equal (perfectly equal) distribution.
