0.66 g of propane (0.015 mol) requires 2.4 g of O2 and produces 0.045 mol of CO2 on complete combustion.

Balanced equation for complete combustion of propane:

C3H8 + 5O2 -> 3CO2 + 4H2O

Step 1 — Moles of propane:

Molar mass of C3H8 = 3(12) + 8(1) = 36 + 8 = 44 g/mol

Moles of propane = 0.66 g / 44 g/mol = 0.015 mol

Step 2 — Moles and mass of O2 consumed:

From the equation, 1 mol C3H8 requires 5 mol O2.

Moles of O2 = 0.015 x 5 = 0.075 mol …
