Using the recursive rule n!=n×(n−1)!n! = n \times (n-1)! with n=1n=1 forces 0!=10! = 1.

Factorial is defined recursively as n!=n×(n−1)!n! = n \times (n-1)! for n≥1n \ge 1, with 1!=11! = 1.

Put n=1n = 1 in the recursive rule:

1!=1×0!1! = 1 \times 0!

Since 1!=11! = 1, we get

1=1×0!  ⟹  0!=1.1 = 1 \times 0! \implies 0! = 1. …
