Retiring partner's dues = capital + share of reserves/goodwill/revaluation profit + interest/salary − drawings − accumulated losses.

The amount due to a retiring partner is computed by preparing his Capital Account and adjusting the following:

Add (credit):

  1. The balance standing to the credit of his Capital (and Current) Account.
  2. His share of general reserve, reserve fund and accumulated/undistributed profits.
  3. His share of the firm's goodwill (credited by the continuing partners in their gaining ratio).
  4. His share of the profit on revaluation of assets and liabilities.
  5. Interest on capital and any salary/commission due to him up to the date of retirement, and his share of profit up to that date. Less (debit):
  6. His drawings and interest on drawings.
  7. His share of accumulated losses and of any loss on revaluation. …
