(q−r)a+(r−p)b+(p−q)c=0(q-r)a+(r-p)b+(p-q)c=0, proved.

Let the AP have first term AA and common difference dd (NCERT Class 11 Sequences and Series):

a=A+(p−1)d,b=A+(q−1)d,c=A+(r−1)d.a=A+(p-1)d,\quad b=A+(q-1)d,\quad c=A+(r-1)d.

Then

(q−r)a+(r−p)b+(p−q)c(q-r)a+(r-p)b+(p-q)c

=A[(q−r)+(r−p)+(p−q)]+d[(q−r)(p−1)+(r−p)(q−1)+(p−q)(r−1)].=A[(q-r)+(r-p)+(p-q)]+d[(q-r)(p-1)+(r-p)(q-1)+(p-q)(r-1)].

Coefficient of AA: (q−r)+(r−p)+(p−q)=0.(q-r)+(r-p)+(p-q)=0.
