Viscosity of liquids decreases with rising temperature because heating weakens the cohesive forces between liquid molecules.

In a liquid, viscosity arises mainly from the cohesive forces of attraction between neighbouring molecules — these forces resist the relative sliding of adjacent layers of liquid moving with different velocities.

As temperature increases, the liquid molecules gain more thermal (kinetic) energy and vibrate more vigorously, which increases the average distance between them and weakens the cohesive intermolecular attraction. With weaker cohesion, adjacent layers of liquid can slide over each other more easily, so the internal frictional resistance — viscosity — decreases.
