Fleming's Left-Hand Rule. This rule gives the direction of the force (and hence motion) experienced by a current-carrying conductor placed in a magnetic field.
Statement. Stretch the thumb, the forefinger and the middle finger of the left hand so that they are mutually perpendicular to one another. Then:
- the Forefinger points in the direction of the magnetic Field (B),
- the Central (middle) finger points in the direction of the Current (I),
- the Thumb points in the direction of the Thrust (force F) / motion on the conductor. …
