The Great Depression (1929) was a worldwide slump of falling output, prices and employment that gave rise to Keynesian macroeconomics.

The Great Depression of 1929 was the most severe economic downturn of modern times. It began with the crash of the American stock market in 1929 and quickly spread to most of the capitalist world through trade and finance.
