A market in economics is the whole contact between buyers and sellers of a good, not a physical place.

In ordinary language 'market' means a particular place where goods are bought and sold. But in economics the term has a wider meaning: a market is the whole region or arrangement in which buyers and sellers of a particular commodity are in contact with one another — directly or through agents, telephone or the internet — to buy and sell that commodity.
