The equilibrium is:
Le Chatelier's principle: if a system at equilibrium is subjected to a change (in concentration, pressure, temperature, etc.), the equilibrium shifts in the direction that tends to counteract (undo) that change.
(i) Addition of H: Increasing the concentration of a reactant (H) disturbs the equilibrium. To counteract (reduce) this added H, the equilibrium shifts in the forward direction (towards the product, CHOH), consuming the extra H (along with CO) and producing more methanol. Net effect: more CHOH is formed.
