The PPC shows maximum output combinations of two goods with full, efficient use of given resources; it slopes downward and is concave due to rising opportunity cost.

Meaning: The Production Possibility Curve (also called the production possibility frontier or transformation curve) shows all the maximum possible combinations of two goods that an economy can produce when its given resources and technology are fully and efficiently utilised.

Schedule (table):

  • Possibility A: Good X = 0, Good Y = 15
  • Possibility B: Good X = 1, Good Y = 14
  • Possibility C: Good X = 2, Good Y = 12
  • Possibility D: Good X = 3, Good Y = 9
  • Possibility E: Good X = 4, Good Y = 5
  • Possibility F: Good X = 5, Good Y = 0

Diagram: Plot Good X on the horizontal axis and Good Y on the vertical axis. Joining the points gives a curve that slopes downward from the Y-axis to the X-axis and is concave (bowed outward) to the origin.
