Resistance depends on both the material (resistivity) and geometry; resistivity alone characterises the material.

For a conductor of length LL and uniform cross-sectional area AA, the resistance is related to resistivity by

R=ρLAR = \rho \frac{L}{A}

Here ρ\rho (resistivity) is an intrinsic property of the material at a given temperature — it does not depend on the conductor's length or area. RR (resistance), on the other hand, depends on both the material (ρ\rho) and the geometrical factors LL and AA: it increases with length and decreases with cross-sectional area.
