Insurance is a contract where the insurer compensates the insured against a loss for a premium; key features: risk-sharing, utmost good faith, insurable interest and indemnity.

Insurance is a contract between the insurer and the insured in which, in return for a payment called the premium, the insurer agrees to compensate the insured for a specified loss (or pay an agreed sum on the happening of a certain event, as in life insurance).

Characteristics:
