A budget is the government's yearly statement of receipts and expenditure; its objectives are allocation, redistribution, stability, growth and managing public enterprises.

Meaning: A government budget is an annual financial statement showing the estimated receipts and estimated expenditure of the government during a financial year (in India, 1 April to 31 March). It has a revenue budget and a capital budget.
