Tubectomy is the female surgical sterilization procedure -- it blocks the Fallopian tubes so fertilization cannot occur, without touching hormone production.

Tubectomy is a terminal (permanent) method of contraception performed on females. A small part of each Fallopian tube (oviduct) is cut and the cut ends are ligated (tied) or a segment is removed, through a small incision made in the abdomen (mini-laparotomy/laparoscopic approach) or via the vagina.

How it prevents pregnancy: With the tubes blocked, the ovum released at ovulation cannot travel down to meet sperm, and sperm cannot travel up to reach the ovum, so fertilization cannot occur.
