Accrued Income is income that a business has already earned (service rendered / right to receive has arisen) during the current accounting period, but the cash for it has not yet been received by the close of that period.

Under the Accrual Basis of Accounting, income must be recognised in the period in which it is EARNED, regardless of when the cash is actually collected (matching/accrual principle). So if, say, interest of ₹2,000 on an investment has accrued for the year but will only be received next month, that ₹2,000 must still be recorded as this year's income.

Example: Interest on investment earned but not yet received, Commission earned but not yet collected, Rent due from a tenant but not yet paid by him.
