Hyaline cartilage is the most abundant, glassy-smooth type of cartilage that cushions joints and supports structures like the nose and trachea.

Hyaline cartilage gets its name from the Greek 'hyalos' (glass), referring to its smooth, translucent, bluish-white appearance.
