The Cash Flow Statement shows how a firm's cash and cash equivalents changed during a period, classified into Operating, Investing and Financing activities, helping assess the firm's ability to generate cash and meet its obligations.

A Cash Flow Statement is a statement that shows the inflows (sources) and outflows (uses) of cash and cash equivalents of an enterprise during a given period, classified under three distinct heads, as required by Accounting Standard-3 (AS-3):

  • Cash Flow from Operating Activities — cash generated/used by the principal revenue-generating activities of the business (e.g. cash received from customers, cash paid to suppliers and employees).
