Most reabsorption of glucose, amino acids, ions and water from the filtrate happens in the PCT.

After filtration at the glomerulus produces the glomerular filtrate, this filtrate passes into the proximal convoluted tubule (PCT), which is lined by simple cuboidal brush-border epithelium to increase the surface area for reabsorption. The PCT reabsorbs almost all of the essential nutrients (glucose, amino acids), and a major fraction of electrolytes (Na+, Cl−, etc.) and water, back into the peritubular capillaries — largely by active transport.
