AP = TP/L; MP pulls AP up when MP > AP, down when MP < AP, and AP is maximum when MP = AP.

Average product (AP) is the output produced per unit of the variable factor employed:

AP = Total Product (TP) ÷ number of units of the variable factor (L).

Relation between AP and MP:
