For a first order reaction t(1/2) = 0.693/k = 3.465 x 10^-3 s.

For a first order reaction the half-life (time for concentration to fall to half) is:

t1/2=0.693kt_{1/2} = \dfrac{0.693}{k}

It does not depend on the starting concentration.

Substituting k=200 s−1k = 200\ \text{s}^{-1}:
