Magnetic flux measures how much magnetic field "passes through" a given area, and for a coil it scales with the field strength, the coil's area, the orientation of the coil relative to the field, and the number of turns.

Magnetic flux through a surface of area A in a uniform field B is defined as:

Phi_B = B . A = B A cos(theta)

where theta is the angle between the magnetic field B and the normal (perpendicular) to the surface. Its SI unit is the weber (Wb).
