Prepare the Trading Account for the year ended 31st March 2024. Debit side = Opening Stock ₹15,000 + Purchases ₹60,000 + Wages ₹5,000 = ₹80,000; Credit side = Sales ₹90,000 + Closing Stock ₹20,000 = ₹1,10,000. The balancing figure is Gross Profit ₹30,000, and both sides foot to ₹1,10,000.

In the Kerala Plus One (DHSE) Accountancy syllabus, the Trading Account is the first part of the final accounts and is prepared to find the gross profit (or gross loss). All items on the debit side are the cost of goods available for sale plus direct expenses; the credit side shows net sales and the unsold closing stock. Wages is a direct (manufacturing/godown) expense and belongs to the Trading Account.
