Expand both sides and collect the xx terms to isolate xx.

We solve 3(1−x)<2(x+4)3(1-x) < 2(x+4).

Expand both sides:

3−3x<2x+83 - 3x < 2x + 8

Bring all xx-terms to one side and constants to the other:

3−8<2x+3x3 - 8 < 2x + 3x

−5<5x-5 < 5x

Divide both sides by 55 (positive, so inequality direction is unchanged):

−1<x, i.e. x>−1-1 < x, \text{ i.e. } x > -1
