(i) Treat the vowel block as one unit, arrange units, then arrange vowels inside the block. (ii) Use combinations of 5252 cards; for each sub-case, choose cards suit-by-suit or colour-by-colour.

(i) DAUGHTER has 88 letters: vowels A, U, E (33 vowels) and consonants D, G, H, T, R (55 consonants).

Treat the 33 vowels as one block. Then we arrange 55 consonants +1+ 1 block =6= 6 units: 6!6! ways. Within the block, the 33 vowels can be arranged in 3!3! ways.
