The three elements of delegation are Authority, Responsibility and Accountability.

In Kerala Plus Two Organising, delegation is the downward entrustment of work and the authority to do it. It has three inter-related elements:

  1. Authority — the power or right given to a person to take decisions, use resources and command subordinates so that the assigned work can be completed. Authority flows downward from superior to subordinate and should be equal to the responsibility given.
