f(x) = x + 1 sends A = {1,2,3} to three distinct values in B, so f is one-one; but 5 ∈ B is never hit, so f is not onto.

Roster form

f(1) = 1 + 1 = 2

f(2) = 2 + 1 = 3

f(3) = 3 + 1 = 4

So f={(1,2),(2,3),(3,4)}f = \{(1,2),(2,3),(3,4)\}.

Checking one-one

The images 2, 3, 4 are all different — distinct elements of A go to distinct elements of B. So f is one-one (injective).
