A wavefront is a surface of constant phase; a convex (converging) lens bends an incident plane wavefront into a converging spherical wavefront that collapses toward the focal point.

(a) Wavefront: A wavefront is defined as the locus (surface) of all the points in a medium that are vibrating in the same phase at a given instant of time. For a point source, wavefronts are spherical; for a source infinitely far away (or a well-collimated beam), the wavefronts are effectively plane.
