AIDS is caused by HIV, diagnosed by ELISA, spread mainly by unsafe sex/blood/needles/mother-to-child, and prevented by safe sex, screened blood, disposable needles and awareness.

  1. Pathogen of AIDS: AIDS (Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome) is caused by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), which is a retrovirus (containing RNA). It attacks and destroys the helper T-lymphocytes, weakening the immune system so that the body becomes prone to many infections.
