Part 1 — Three main abiotic factors (any three):
- Temperature — one of the most important ecological factors; it affects the kinetics of enzymes and metabolic rate, and determines the geographical distribution of organisms (very few can tolerate temperature extremes below 0°C or above 45°C).
- Water — availability of water (rainfall, humidity) is critical, especially for terrestrial organisms; productivity and distribution of plants (and hence animals) in a region are strongly correlated with water availability.
