Modern Periodic Law: properties of elements repeat periodically when elements are arranged in order of increasing atomic number.

Mendeleev's original periodic law (based on atomic mass) had a few anomalies (e.g., some elements needed to be placed out of atomic-mass order to fit their properties). Henry Moseley showed that atomic number (number of protons/nuclear charge), not atomic mass, is the more fundamental property. This led to the Modern Periodic Law.
