Revaluation loss 1,000; Capitals A 39,450, B 30,150, C 23,200.

A and B share 3 : 1, admit C for 1/4.

Revaluation Account:

  • Bad debts 3,000; existing Provision for Doubtful Debts 2,000 absorbs part, so only the excess 1,000 is a loss. Revaluation loss = 1,000 -> A 750, B 250.
  • Investment: book 7,000, market 4,500, fall 2,500. Investment Fluctuation Reserve 4,100 absorbs the whole fall, so no revaluation effect; investment shown at 4,500.

Distribution of reserves/funds (in old ratio 3:1):

  • Workmen Compensation Reserve 6,000 - claim 2,000 = 4,000 -> A 3,000, B 1,000.
  • Investment Fluctuation Reserve 4,100 - fall 2,500 = 1,600 -> A 1,200, B 400.
  • Employees' Provident Fund 17,000 stays a liability (not distributed).

Goodwill: existing goodwill 40,000 written off in old ratio 3:1 -> A 30,000, B 10,000. C brings 16,000 for goodwill, credited to A and B in sacrificing ratio 3:1 -> A 12,000, B 4,000.
