Rewrite in standard linear form dydx+Py=Q\dfrac{dy}{dx}+Py=Q, then IF=e∫P dxIF = e^{\int P\,dx}.

xdydx+y=xcos⁡xx\frac{dy}{dx} + y = x\cos x

Divide throughout by xx:

dydx+1xy=cos⁡x\frac{dy}{dx} + \frac{1}{x}y = \cos x

This is linear with P=1xP = \dfrac1x.
