The Doppler effect is an apparent frequency shift from relative motion; a stationary wave is a fixed node/antinode pattern from two oppositely-travelling waves interfering.

Doppler Effect: When there is relative motion between a wave source and an observer (either one moving, or both), the frequency of the wave as perceived/heard by the observer differs from the frequency actually emitted by the source. If the source and observer approach each other, the observed frequency increases (pitch sounds higher); if they recede from each other, the observed frequency decreases (pitch sounds lower). Example: the pitch of a train's whistle sounds higher as it approaches and lower as it moves away.
