Pro-rata 40,000:20,000 = 2:1. Excess application money exactly covers allotment. Vijay (2,000 shares) pays nothing beyond application; forfeited amount ₹14,000, re-issue loss ₹4,000 → Capital Reserve ₹10,000.

Amount split per share: Face ₹10 + premium ₹1 = ₹11. Application ₹4 (₹3 capital + ₹1 premium), Allotment ₹4 (capital), First & Final Call ₹3 (capital).

Over-subscription: Applied 50,000; 10,000 incomplete applications rejected and refunded (10,000 × ₹4 = ₹40,000); remaining 40,000 allotted 20,000 pro-rata (2:1).

Excess adjustment: On 40,000 shares, application money received = ₹1,60,000. For 20,000 allotted shares, application+premium retained = 20,000 × ₹4 = ₹80,000; excess ₹80,000 adjusted against allotment (allotment due 20,000 × ₹4 = ₹80,000, fully covered).

Vijay: Applied 4,000, allotted 2,000. Paid ₹16,000 on application; ₹8,000 retained (application+premium), ₹8,000 adjusted to his allotment (due ₹8,000, fully covered). He did not pay the First & Final Call (2,000 × ₹3 = ₹6,000).

Forfeited amount (received towards capital) = application capital ₹6,000 + allotment ₹8,000 = ₹14,000.
