ii) Calculate water potential of solution which is enclosed in a semi permeable membrane whose Osmotic Potential is –35 bar and Pressure Potential is –5 bar.

Diffusion Pressure Deficit equals Osmotic Pressure minus Turgor Pressure; since a flaccid cell has zero turgor pressure, its DPD becomes equal to its OP.

i) Relation between DPD, OP and TP: DPD (also called suction pressure, SP) is the extent to which a cell's diffusion pressure of water is less than that of pure water, and it is given by DPD = OP - TP, where OP is the osmotic pressure of the cell sap (which tends to pull water in) and TP is the turgor/wall pressure (which pushes back against the incoming water, opposing further entry).
