At equilibrium, the ratio of product concentrations to reactant concentrations (each raised to its stoichiometric power) is a fixed constant KcK_c at a given temperature.

For a general reversible reaction at a fixed temperature:

aA+bB⇌cC+dDaA + bB \rightleftharpoons cC + dD

The Law of Chemical Equilibrium states that at equilibrium, the ratio

Kc=[C]c[D]d[A]a[B]bK_c = \frac{[C]^c[D]^d}{[A]^a[B]^b}

has a constant value, called the equilibrium constant, provided the temperature remains unchanged. Here [A],[B],[C],[D][A], [B], [C], [D] are the molar concentrations of the reactants and products at equilibrium.
