A company can issue shares at par (face value), at a premium (above face value) or at a discount (below face value, now largely restricted); and in various forms - public issue, private placement, rights issue, bonus issue and employee stock options (ESOP).

The types of issue of shares are:

  1. According to price:
    • At par: shares issued at their face value.
