A government budget is the annual statement of the government's estimated receipts and expenditure for a financial year.

A government budget is an annual financial statement which shows the estimated receipts and the estimated expenditure of the government during a financial year, which in India runs from 1 April to 31 March. It is prepared by the government, presented before and passed by the legislature.

The budget has two main parts:
