Schottky defect is a vacancy defect in ionic solids of similar-sized ions; Frenkel defect is a dislocation defect in ionic solids where ions differ greatly in size.

Schottky defect: Arises in ionic crystals where the cation and anion are of similar size (e.g. NaCl, KCl, CsCl). An equal number of cations and anions are missing from their normal lattice sites, so electrical neutrality is maintained. This decreases the density of the crystal and the number of such defects is appreciable.
