Accounting from incomplete information refers to a system (popularly the single entry system) in which proper double-entry records are not maintained for all transactions. Usually only the Cash Book and the personal accounts of debtors and creditors are kept, while real and nominal accounts are ignored. As a result, a trial balance cannot be drawn up and profit has to be found by the statement-of-affairs (net worth) method or the conversion method.
