Revaluation gain 6,500 (2:1); General Reserve 20,000 (2:1); C's goodwill premium 10,000 shared in sacrificing ratio 5:1; C brings 30,000 capital. Closing capitals: A 1,26,000, B 60,500, C 30,000; Balance Sheet total 2,78,500.

Workings

  • Revaluation: Land & Building +10% × 60,000 = +6,000; Investment 35,000 − 30,000 = +5,000; Outstanding Expenses +2,000 (loss); Provision increased by 5% of debtors = 5% × 50,000 = 2,500 (loss, new provision 7,500). Net gain = (6,000 + 5,000) − (2,000 + 2,500) = 6,500 → A 4,333.33, B 2,166.67.
  • General Reserve 20,000 → A 13,333.33, B 6,666.67.
  • New ratio 5:3:2. Sacrifice: A = 2/3 − 5/10 = 1/6; B = 1/3 − 3/10 = 1/30 → sacrificing ratio 5:1. Goodwill premium from C = 2/10 × 50,000 = 10,000 → A 8,333.33, B 1,666.67.
  • Cash = 20,000 + 30,000 (C's capital) + 10,000 (premium) = 60,000.
