Sacrificing ratio is the ratio in which old partners give up their share for a new partner; it equals Old Ratio minus New Ratio.

When a new partner is admitted, he acquires his share of profits from the existing partners, who therefore sacrifice a portion of their old shares. The sacrificing ratio is the ratio in which the old partners forgo their shares in favour of the incoming partner. It is calculated as:

Sacrificing Ratio = Old Share - New Share.
