An executor is the legal representative of a deceased partner who receives the sum due to the deceased. (Or: one purpose of admitting a new partner is to bring in more capital/skill.)

When a partner dies, the amount standing to his credit (capital, share of profit, goodwill, revaluation profit, etc.) becomes payable to his legal heir/representative.
