One truck is destroyed on 1 Oct 2013; after the ₹70,000 insurance settlement the loss is ₹30,000. Trucks are kept at cost (₹9,20,000 at year‑end) with a separate Provision for Depreciation A/c (₹4,46,000). The second part shows the same disposal routed through a Truck Disposal Account.

Concept & treatment. Depreciation (20% on original cost) is credited each year to the Provision for Depreciation Account, keeping the Trucks A/c at cost. When a truck is destroyed, depreciation is charged up to the date of the accident; the accumulated depreciation on that truck is transferred out of the provision account, the insurance claim is recorded as the "sale value," and the shortfall (WDV − claim) is the loss.
