Lewis acids are electron-pair acceptors; BF3 is a classic example.

G.N. Lewis extended the acid-base concept beyond proton transfer: a Lewis acid is any molecule or ion that can accept a pair of electrons to form a new coordinate (dative) covalent bond, while a Lewis base is a species that can donate an electron pair.

A Lewis acid typically has either an incomplete octet (e.g. BF3, AlCl3) or a central atom that can expand its valence shell, or is a simple cation (e.g. H+, Al3+).
